Vendor Spotlight: Absolute Elegance

Specialty: Wedding/Event cakes
Location: 1A, Kosebinu Lane by Opebi Link Road, Oregun

I have some pictures I got online for Absolute Elegance. It's tricky putting pictures of vendors up. We have labelled these with T.E.N.I just so we have control over the pictures we've put up of their cakes. All the cakes below were made by Absolute Elegance.

We took the pictures below on a visit to their store.

Vendor Review:

Absolute Elegance cakes are quite tasty. Their wedding fruit cake is real rich fruit cake; so it would last and last. Their style is a bit of Rustic meets Victorian meets Classic. if you're none of the above they probably won't appeal to you.Their cakes also have this shine on them. Some like that (air brushed feel) and some people don't (royal icing look). It's a preference thing. Mrs Ajadi runs the outfit and meets with each of her clients they're making a custom cake for.

The cakes are also a bit pricey. You'd probably spend about 250k for a regular tiered fruit wedding cake. And that could go higher easily.

If I were to go for them I'd probably go for more of the rustic layered trunk boxes; they do that well.

Venue Spotlight: Monarch Gardens, Events Centre

Monarch Gardens is an events' centre at Osapa London, Lekki.

It is located between 5th and 6th round about on the Lekki Epe Expressway (not facing the express way) but its the first corner piece building, so you can see the side and part of the front from the expressway).

T.E.N.I visited the venue and our pictures are below

Venue Review:

On sighting the venue; it does seem a bit off. You wonder how it would look inside. but the interior is a welcome surprise. The  lights that come in through the windows and the marble shine is definitely a plus. It does sit about 350 - 400 guests banquet style.

The stage area is embedded up front and is not as high as most venue stages.in fact it has just one step; but with a good decorator, one can achieve great things with the area. The stage area does have a door that leads back stage which is a plus for the couple.

Vendors usually come in from the back (opposite the stage). There is an area where they can set up. Other vendors like cocktails etc can set up close to that entrance as well.

The venue does have some lights and sound; you can inquire from them.

The upper foyer of the hall does pose a little bit of a hassle. Having guests upstairs and downstairs doesn't really sit well with a lot of people. But if the venue works for you, you can always tweak this by e.g. having younger people upstairs etc..

When not using the upper part; decorating it off also does pose a bit of an issue. Some decorators who have a bit to spend have been known to completely cover it off with drapery and you'd think you're in a completely different hall. The area can also be used as a pre-reception or lounge area if you're able to cordon it off.

The venue does come with a small changing room.

Parking in the venue is minimal; so there is bound to be an overflow (so if you're picking the venue, you need to map out areas for additional parking and also arrange for Lastma etc to help).

It does feel like a church hall especially because of the stairway; and upper foyer.

It'd be good for a small intimate wedding *especially for those who live or attend church etc in the area.

Eru-Iyawo Shopping in Lagos (part 1)

Hi y'all,

I went shopping the other day in Lagos (Lagos Island), and Nnamdi Azikiwe to be precise and the fabulous goodies available is really kool. With ensuring events are unique you find that one has to scout a little. And a mixture of foreign and local goods usually is a good recipe for unique events. We got some fabulous wrapping paper, crepe paper, flowers etc.

Lovely Faux Flowers

These are also faux flowers and are absolutely divine
